Well if your start is at HTML. Then start learning HTML then go on to XML, php, sql and asp.
If you want to develop softwares then c++,java and vB is what I could suggest you.
I also recommend a future in graphics so you may try and learn Photoshop or Corel.

No. C++ and Java are not first languages. If you recommend those before learning a high level language, it's bad for them. And VB is terrible, anyone who learns it people tell them they are "VB scarred." Use GIMP for graphics, inkscape for vector.

Any reason why c++ isn't a starting language?

A mix of opinions here: ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-411124.htmlWell, for me, it's not a wise choice. I have started with C++ and regret it. It is a good language in the software industry, but not great for teaching concepts. C++ has a giant syntax for one, something that is too low level in terms for just learning how to program. C++ is great for a lot of things, (games, applications), but for learning it isn't. A much greater alternative would be Python, because it is very simple but allows you to be powerful at the same time. I started out with C++ and became stuck even with my online friend's help, and had a hard time switching to a higher level language like Python.
