Single-mode fiber gives you up to 50 times more distance and a higher transmission rate as compared to multimode, but it is of high costs. As compared to the multimode, a smaller core is present in Single-mode fiber. Any distortion that could result from overlapping light pulses is eliminated by the single light and small core wave virtually. This offers the highest transmission speeds and provides the least signal attenuation of any fiber cable type. With common diameters in the 50-to-100 micron range, Multimode cable is made of glass fibers, for the light carry component. Promising performance similar to glass cable on very short runs, POF is a newer plastic-based cable but at a lower cost. For cable terminations, a stripping and cutting tool should be used as that helps to obtain a smooth cut on the jacket of the cable. The CAT7 trunk cable has to be nicely and uniformly dressed, the pin-out has to be checked, and the patch termination chart has to be well laid out.
